I learned early in life: Never depend on just one alarm when traveling for business. Technology makes it easy to depend on the alarm you carry with you, but you should still always set a second alarm or arrange for a wake up call.

Expensive lesson to learn. Surprised it took him this long to learn it.

Jim Furyk overslept Wednesday and was late for his pro-am time in The Barclays, leaving PGA Tour officials no choice but to disqualify him from the first of four FedEx Cup playoff events.

Furyk overslept Wednesday when his cell phone lost power overnight and the alarm didn't go off, causing him to be late for his pro-am tee time in The Barclays. That left PGA Tour officials no choice but to make him ineligible for the first of four FedEx Cup playoff events.
